William J. Stec

William J. Stec, 76, of Colonie passed away peacefully on January 30, 2026 after a long illness.  Bill was born on August 27, 1949, in Schenectady, to the late Mack and Genevieve Stec.

Bill was a graduate of Bishop Gibbons High School and he graduated from Siena College with a bachelor’s degree in Mathematics. He was an employee of the New York Public Service Commission from which he retired after many years of dedicated service.  

He enjoyed spending his time golfing, bowling and fishing. He especially enjoyed fishing with his Dad and cousins at the Tomhannock Reservoir.  He enjoyed traveling and spending summer vacations in Maine and Cape Cod.  He was a devoted sports fan following the Mets, Knicks and horseracing.   

William is survived by his sister, Joyce Stec, good friend, Jeff Wisnewski, and several cousins and friends.

The family would like to thank his wonderful care givers at Fresenius Kidney Care Niskayuna, New York Oncology and Hematology and the Albany Medical Center.

Calling hours will be held on Thursday, February 5, 2026 from 9:00 am.-10:30 am at the DeLegge Funeral Home, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial, 11:00 a.m. at the Church of St. Adalbert.  Interment will be in St. Adalbert Cemetery.
