Thomas (Tom) Kosinski, 91, passed away peacefully at his home after a brief illness on Saturday, February 18, 2023, surrounded by his loving family. Tom was born to the lates Alexander and Helen (Comorski) Kosinski and was a lifelong resident of Schenectady.
Tom graduated from Nott Terrace High School where he was a basketball star. He served honorably as a Private First-Class Paratrooper in the United States Army. He was employed at General Electric and in 1957 started his career as a Schenectady Firefighter. Tom retired after 30 years of dedicated service. On his days off from the Fire Department, he took on many roles working as a mason installing sidewalks, painting homes and maintaining his rental properties. He was a member of the Niskayuna Elks Lodge and member of St. Joseph's Athletic Club for 60 years. He was a member of the former St. Mary's Church, and is a communicant of St. John the Evangelist Church. Tom was an avid golfer, enjoyed fishing and his monthly poker games with his friends at St. Joe's Club. Tom and Angie were always avid gardeners, taking pride in their vegetables and flowers displayed around the yard. He enjoyed summer vacations in Wildwood Crest with his family and many trips to Florida over the years. Tom's pride and joy were his granddaughters. He enjoyed attending their basketball games at Scotia Glenville High School and Union College. His family was his greatest love and joy and brought him much happiness over his lifetime.
He was the brother of the lates Alexander (Mary) Kosinski.
Tom will forever be missed by his beloved wife of 67 years, Angelina (Coppola) Kosinski; his loving daughters, Doreen (Steve) Smith and Marilyn (John) Fuschino; cherished granddaughters Danielle (Scott) Sypher and Nicole Conley; step-grandchildren Johnathan Fuschino; Jillian (David) Hobson; great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews and cousins. Tom was also blessed to have many supportive friends and neighbors especially Brian White and his family.
The family would like to thank our pastor, Father Richard Carlino for his loving support and devotion to his extended family and the Hospice nurses.
Calling hours will be held on Friday, February 24, 2023 at St. John the Evangelist Church from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 12 p.m. Interment will follow in St. Anthony's Cemetery.
