Sophie Jankiewicz

Sophie Jankiewicz passed away peacefully on December 25, 2020 at Baptist Health in Scotia, NY.

Sophie was born in Scotia on January 9, 1920 to the late Frank and Jennie Bobowski and celebrated her 100th Birthday with family and friends at Baptist.  She graduated from Scotia High School in 1938 and until a few years ago attended the 50 plus reunion with her sisters.

She resided in Rotterdam and worked at GE for 33 years.  Sophie loved the Yankees and didn’t miss a game, playing cards and spending time at the Sacandaga Lake.

Sophie was predeceased by her husband’s John Romboski and Benny Jankiewicz, sisters Mary Grace, Florence Macejka and Irene Zebrowski, her brother in laws Al Grace, Mike Macejka, Richard Zebrowski and William Cameron, her nephew Michael Macejka, and her godson Robert Ausfeld and her granddaughter Michelle Gagnon.

Sophie is survived by her sister Helen Cameron, her nephews Larry Macejka , Bill (Ruth) , Zenon (Kitty), Ron (Phyllis), and Chuck (Nancy) Grace, Robert, (Laurie),  James (Betty)  and William Zebrowski, and her nieces Linda Shannon (Don), Laurie LoStritto (Augie), Jane Sanderson, MaryRose Waters (Don), Terry Macejka, JoAnn Zynwala (Joe) and Kathy Shirkey, step-daughter Bonnie Gagnon (Larry) and granddaughter Danielle Gagnon and several great nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be private for family.
Memorial contributions in Sophie’s name may be made to the Church of St. Adalbert, 550 Lansing Street, Schenectady 12303.
