Rose C. Lamanna, formerly Rose C. Scafidi, of Schenectady passed away on Thursday, February 23, 2023.
Born in Amsterdam, N.Y., she graduated from Wilbur H. Lynch High School in 1949. She was a former parishioner of St. Michael’s Church where she sang in St. Cecilia’s choir and was a member of St. Rita's Sodality. For many years prior to her death Rose was a communicant of the St. Kateri Tekakwitha Church (formerly St. Helen’s) in Niskayuna and in recent years was a member of St. Edward the Confessor in Clifton Park.
She worked as a secretary for the American Guarantee Insurance Co., Amsterdam, NY, the Nyloh Corporation, Elmira, NY, and as a principal clerk for the NYS Department of Labor in Albany until her retirement in 1996.
Rose was married 48 years to her beloved husband, Angelo W. Lamanna, until his death on December 24, 2000. She is survived by devoted daughters Louise West (Jeffrey), Jeanne Scrafford (David) and Kathleen Salamone (Sam). She leaves behind six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her parents Frank and Carmela Scafidi and three brothers, Frank Scafidi Jr., John Scafidi and Thomas Scafidi.
Rose and her true love, Angelo, enjoyed travel. The love birds enjoyed many destinations, their favorite by far were their trips to Italy. Rose was a beautiful lady and generous soul; her family was her greatest joy. She took immense pride in her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She will be lovingly remembered for her wonderful meatballs and glorious array of Christmas cookies each season.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, March 11, 2023 at St. Edward the Confessor Church, 569 Clifton Park Center Rd., Clifton Park, NY 12065 at 10:00 am. Interment will be private.
