Ronald G. Pope

Ronald G. Pope, 89, of Niskayuna, NY passed away on Sunday, January 22, 2023.  Born in Schenectady, NY he was the son of the late John and Adelaide Pope.  He graduated from Mont Pleasant High School and Siena College with a Bachelors Degree.  He was a school teacher at Mont Pleasant, Steinmetz, and St. Anthony's Schools. Ron enjoyed walking in Central Park.  He played baseball in the farm system with the Brooklyn Dodgers, and coached at Northside Little League.  He loved basketball, bowling, played the drums, and had a lifelong passion for the University of Notre Dame.  Ron was a faithful and devout member of St. Luke's Church where he read scripture, and talked to people about coming to Jesus.

Ron was the beloved husband of his high school sweetheart, the late Barbara Marino Pope, and loving father of Donna Pope.  Also survived by several cousins.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, January 27, 2023 at 8:15 a.m. at the DeLegge Funeral Home followed by a Mass of Christian Burial 9:00 a.m. at St. Luke's Church.  Interment will be in St. John's Cemetery.  
Calling hours will be held on Thursday evening, January 26, 2023, from 5-7 p.m. at the DeLegge Funeral Home.
