It is with heartfelt sadness that we announce the passing of Robert “Bob” Galka, 86, who peacefully left us on Friday, February 28, 2025, at home, surrounded by the love and comfort of his family.
Born in Schenectady, NY, Bob was the cherished son of the late Walter and Marion (Kruczynski) Galka. Bob was a dedicated parishioner of St. Adalbert Church, where he served for many years as a member of the Holy Name Society. Bob was a man of family—a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather. He and his beloved wife Ellen, his high school sweetheart, shared 65 years of love, joy, and partnership. Together, they built a family that was the center of his world.
Bob took great pride in his children and found immense joy in supporting his three grandchildren. Whether at sporting events, concerts, parades, or theater performances, Bob could always be found cheering them on with unwavering encouragement and love. He was also a passionate fan of the Boston Red Sox, and the game was a constant companion on his TV. He was predeceased by his beloved son, Michael Galka. Bob will be lovingly remembered by his devoted wife, Ellen Galka; his children, David (Liz Shand) Galka and Kristine Williams; his sister, Carol Galka; his grandchildren, Kelsey (Nick) Ragucci, Eli Williams, and Kennedy Williams; his great-grandchildren, Hudson and Gabriel Ragucci; as well as several nieces and nephews who will miss him dearly.
Calling hours will be held on Thursday evening, March 6, 2025, from 5-7 p.m. at the DeLegge Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held on Friday, March 7, at 10:15 a.m. from the DeLegge Funeral Home followed by a Mass of Christian Burial, 11 a.m. at the Church of St. Adalbert.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that those wishing to honor Bob’s memory consider making a donation to Community Hospice or the Church of St. Adalbert.
