Robert W. Gilman, 63, of Rotterdam, NY passed away Thursday, April 23rd, 2020 in his home surrounded by his family. He fought a strong, courageous battle with pancreatic cancer.
Robert was a well known, hard working, skilled mason in the Rotterdam area who took great pride in his work. He was a Catholic man, a parishioner of St. Luke’s Church, Schenectady, and frequently went to morning Masses at St. Anthony’s Church in Schenectady. Bob enjoyed masonry, music, religion, football, art, and early morning drives to watch the sunrise. He deeply loved his family and all of his friends, who he considered family as well.
Robert was predeceased by his beloved parents, David & Lois, and beloved brother David Jr. He is survived by his caring former wife, Kerstin, loving sons Shane & Robin, and loving daughter Mindy. He is also survived by his dear sisters, Deborah, Linda, Marjorie and Jennifer - along with several nieces, nephews, and their children.
His family would like to extend a special thank you to his surgeon, Dr. Sugatha Nigam, who gave Bob a few more years with his loved ones and his hospice nurses, Bonnie and Alice, who helped make it possible for him to be in the comfort of his own home with his family in his final days.
Due to current circumstances, a memorial Mass will be held at a later date when conditions permit. Donations may be made in Bob's memory to one of his favorite charities to support, St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, or to the Lustgarten Foundation for pancreatic cancer research.
