Richard Koretnicki, age 84, of Schenectady, NY, passed away peacefully on Monday, September 26, 2022 surrounded by his family.
Richard was a life long resident of Schenectady. He graduated from Mont Pleasant High School in 1957.
Richard was an outstanding football player. He played varsity football for Mont Pleasant in 1954, 1955, 1956 and 1957. He was accepted to the University of Miami in April 1957. Unfortunately, due to a shoulder injury, he was unable to attend but remained an avid football fan. He was a die hard NY Giants fan.
He enjoyed the ocean and made many summer trips to Wildwood and Atlantic City, NJ. Richard loved food and desserts! You would often find him in the backyard barbecuing his favorite foods or having a sweet treat with his grandchildren.
Richard was formerly married to Beverly Rodgers, the mother of his children.
He is predeceased by his parents Michael and Rose (Conley) Koretnicki.
Richard is survived by his four daughters; Susan Gemmiti and her husband Thomas of Guilderland, NY, Donna Stahl and deceased husband Gary of Londonderry, NH, Ann Marie Macerola and her husband Joseph of Guilderland, NY, and Sandra Koretnicki of Rotterdam, NY. His brother, Jack and sister in law Bobbie Koretnicki of Rotterdam, NY.
Richard had seven grandchildren; Nicole (Shawn) Green, Jason (Amanda) Stahl, Randi Marie (AJ) Battaglia, Derek (Jenelle) Stahl, Dominic Gemmiti, Nicholas and Gino Macerola. Four great grandchildren; Ryan, Gregory, Thea and Madelyn and two nephews Paul (Cathy) Koretnicki and Gary (Melissa) Koretnicki and several other great nieces and nephews.
We would like to thank my dads longtime friend Chubby Pantalone for all his help and support over the last year of our dads declining health. It was greatly appreciated by us all.
