Richard V. Godlewski, 95, of Schenectady, NY passed away on November 26, 2023 after a brief illness.
Born on July 19, 1928, to the late Anthony and Ida Godlewski in Schenectady, New York, Dick graduated from Mont Pleasant High School and went on to join the U.S. Navy as a 3rd Class Petty Officer. He served on the USS Fort Mandan during the Korean conflict. He was a communicant of St. Adalbert Church, a Eucharistic Minister, and a prior member of the Holy Name Society.
Dick worked as a sales representative for the Nestle company, Hills Bros Coffee, and then retired from Standard Furniture in 1990. After retirement, he worked for the Hertz corporation driving and parking rental cars. Dick loved to travel to Destin, FL on an annual basis and had many friends both in Schenectady and the Destin area.
Dick is survived by his cherished best friend of 21years, Sally Jean Lowe, his children, daughter Diane (Steven) Bouffard, sons Richard Michael (Marie) Godlewski, Michael Richard (Olga) Godlewski, grandchildren Anthony, Chris (Jennifer) Bouffard, Amanda (Michael) Capuano, Justin (Christina), Aaron (Kayla), Michael, and Lexi Godlewski; and great-grandchildren, Claire, Justin, Genevieve, and Jonathan Bouffard, Helena and Miguel Capuano, Carter and Hayden Godlewski.
He was predeceased by his wife Helen, his parents, brothers Raymond and Edward, and his sister Sally.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, November 30, at 8:15 a.m. from the DeLegge Funeral Home followed by a Mass of Christian Burial, 9:00 a.m. at the Church of St. Adalbert. Interment will be in St. Adalbert Cemetery with full Military Honors.
Calling hours will be held Wednesday evening, November 29, from 5-7 at the DeLegge Funeral Home.
