Raymond F. Callanan Jr., 60 of Schenectady, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, December 5, 2020, surrounded by his loving family. Born on May 21, 1960, he was the cherished son of Raymond and Connie Callanan of Burnt Hills.
He grew up in Burnt Hills and attended Burnt Hills – Ballston Lake High School and then went on and graduated from Siena College. Ray worked for Chrysler Credit Corp. for many years prior to its closing and subsequently in the auto industry.
Ray is survived by his loving wife of 32 years, JoAnn (Barlette) and his two cherished sons, his pride and joys, Raymond III of Norwalk, CT and Matthew of Guilderland. His memory is cherished by his two siblings, Anthony Callanan (Laurie) and Catherine Callanan, sister n law Marcy Barlette; along with nieces and nephews uncles aunts and cousins.
Ray was predeceased by his maternal and paternal grandparents.
Ray was a loving father, husband and a friend to everyone he met. He had a special ability to light up a room, with his everlasting stories regardless of the situation. Definitely the family comedian! He adored his family, cherished his friends. Ray always enjoyed watching a variety of sports from his beloved chair where you could always find him. Ray had an uncanny knowledge of both current and past world events. His wit at family and friends gatherings, along with his compassion for others will truly be missed.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend calling hours on Monday, December 14, from 8:30- 11 a.m. at the DeLegge Funeral Home, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial 11:30 a.m. at St. Gabriel's Church, Rotterdam. Interment will be in Memory Gardens Cemetery.
