Michael J. Kaczynski (Kaz), 50, of Tempe, AZ passed away unexpectedly and peacefully in his home on Sunday April 18th. Born in Plattsburgh, NY on January 25th, 1971, he was the son of Joseph and Christine Kaczynski. Michael grew up in Schenectady graduating from Linton High School in 1989. He ran track in high school and his 4x4 relay team made it to the Junior Olympics in Salt Lake City, UT. Michael attended Union College and graduated in 1993 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering. He was a member of Delta Phi Fraternity and the Mensa Society. Michael worked for the State Assembly of NY for several years before moving to Tempe, Arizona where he worked as a senior software engineer for Intel for the past 21 years.
Michael enjoyed baseball and was a devoted Yankees fan. He also liked going to the Saratoga Racetrack every summer. Michael loved vacationing in York Beach, Maine and relaxing by the ocean. He enjoyed cooking exotic foods and will always be remembered for his love of hot sauce and eating the hottest possible chicken wings (often having to sign a waiver). Michael also enjoyed playing local Trivia games, Scrabble, and spending time with family and friends. He had a great sense of humor and brought laughter and joy to everyone who knew him.
Michael is survived by his parents Joseph and Christine Kaczynski of Schenectady; sisters Lisa Lansing and Carly Kaczynski; nieces Jennifer, Allyson, and Megan Lansing. Also, Kiera Conway, and his beloved dog Bogie.
Calling hours will be from 11-1 on Saturday, June 5th at DeLegge Funeral Home in Schenectady with a service to begin at 1 p.m. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Interment will be private.
