Matilda Spodnewski, 97, of Rotterdam, passed away peacefully at Daughters of Sarah Nursing Center on April 5, 2023. Bebe was born in Carbondale, PA, the daughter of the lates John and Josephine (Kozlowski) Sarnoski, she was the valedictorian of the class of Fell High School class of 1943. Bebe worked at GE Global Research Center, Niskayuna as an electronics laboratory specialist for 40 years. She was a member of Church of St Adalbert, and a member of the Altar Rosary Society. She was a member of Rotterdam Seniors. She enjoyed tap dancing with “Happy Tappers”, with Audrey Fairman.
Matilda was married to her husband, Walter G Spodnewski for 58 years prior to his death 2005.
They enjoyed ballroom dancing, painting, gardening and traveling.
She was also predeceased by seven brothers, Walter, Lt. Joseph, Congressional Medal of Honor recipient; John, Charles, Valentine, and Ted; eight sisters, Jennie (Manarchuck), Sally (Strekel), Nellie (Dukerich), Helen (Costantino), Agnes (Rembicz), Victoria (Gerard), Martha (Nelson), and Regina (Arthur). Bebe is survived by one brother, Francis of Carbondale, PA.
She leaves many family members and special friends here on earth.

Calling hours will be held on Wednesday, April 12, 2023 from 9:00-10:30 a.m. at the DeLegge Funeral Home, followed by Mass of Christian Burial 11:00 a.m. at the Church of St. Adalbert. Interment will be in St. Adalbert cemetery.
