Matilda (Tillie) Ciembroniewicz, (nee:Skrocki), 97, passed away after a short illness on April 16, 2021. Born on November 6, 1923 in New Britain CT, she lived there until the age of three, before moving with her family to a large working farm in Delanson, NY, where she spent her early years. Mom was a graduate of Draper High School. She worked for the General Electric Company for several years until marrying her husband Robert, on August 12, 1951, then raised a family together. Once her children were grown, our mom returned to the workplace where she enjoyed a 15 year career with the New York Department of Labor. Upon retirement she spent the next 33 winters in the Florida sunshine. Mom enjoyed her time in Florida immensely, close to her daughter and grandchildren. She frequently attributed her longevity to her time spent basking in the winter Florida sunshine, walking miles along the beach daily.
Our mother was predeceased by her parents Walter and Maryanna as well as her brother Edmund, and her two sisters Sophie and Mae. Also her husband Robert in 1984 after 31 years of marriage. Tillie is survived by her three children, Robert Jr., Jim, and Suzanne (Ron) Anderson. Particularly proud of her eight grandchildren, Krissa (Kerry) Mawn, Kara, Melanie, Robert III, Julia, Amelia, Sophia, and Samuel, as well as two great grandchildren, Noah and Lucy. Also surviving are nephews, nieces, and cousins too numerous to acknowledge individually, as well as many friends, neighbors and acquaintances in both NY and FL. A lifelong member of the Church of St. Adalbert, where mom’s father helped in the construction of the present day church.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, April 21, at 9:15 a.m. from the DeLegge Funeral Home, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial, 10 a.m. at the Church of St. Adalbert. Interment will be in St. Adalbert Cemetery. Relatives and friends are invited to attend calling hours on Tuesday, from 5-7 p.m at the DeLegge Funeral Home.
Those who wish to remember Matilda in a special way may make a memorial contribution to the Church of St. Adalbert, 550 Lansing St., Schenectady, 12303.
