Kathleen Purzycki Obituary

Kathleen Purzycki, 76, passed away peacefully on Friday, September 6, 2024 with her friend and cousin Carol at her side. She was born in Schenectady to the late Henry and Catherine Purzycki. After graduating from Draper High School, she attended Albany Business College and then began her career as a secretary at General Electric for over 40 years.  Kathy really enjoyed her career at General Electric and was a proud member of both the Quarter Century Club and the GE Women’s Club.  During her time at GE, Kathy was fortunate to be able to experience numerous “business trips” to such locations as Hawaii, London, and Florida, just to name a few.  Before and after retiring, Kathy took many pleasure trips and cruises with friends and family hitting Bermuda, the Caribbean, The Baltics, Poland, Russia, and Rome always ready to see a show and hit the casinos with gusto.

Rather than allow others to throw her a party for her retirement she chose to celebrate by requesting the GE box at The Times Union Center for the Andre Rieu concert and hosted family and friends to a wonderful evening of music and libations enjoyed by all!

Kathy is survived by her brother Robert Purzycki, her aunt Isabel Krempa as well as her beloved godchildren Daniel Gregoire, Amanda Wallace, and Mary Hogwood.  In addition, Kathy leaves behind her close friends The Draper Girls, Barbara, Becky, and Shirley as well as her Linton friend, Linda who have shared the good times and the bad for over 60 years. Family was very important to Kathy, and she enjoyed getting together with everyone for gatherings at Wigilia and Easter. She will be missed and remembered by numerous cousins at these future gatherings. Kathy will always be remembered for the kindness and generosity that she showed to both her friends and family over the years.  While she leaves a hole in all of our lives in her passing, she was full of love for those who went before her and looked forward to reuniting with them.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend her Funeral Mass on Thursday, September 12 at 10:00 a.m. at the Church of Saint Adalbert, 550 Lansing St., Schenectady. Interment will follow the mass in Saint Adalbert Cemetery. Those who wish to remember Kathy in a special way can make donations to: Community Hospice Inn, 310 S. Manning Blvd., Albany, NY 12208 or The Church of Saint Adalbert.
