Joseph J. D'Agostino Sr., 95 of Sarasota, FL, formerly of Schenectady, passed away on March 1, 2018. Born in Hoboken, NJ, he was the son of the late Michael and Matilda D'Agostino. He served honorably during WWII as a staff sergeant with the elite night fighters in the United Stated Marine Corps. Joseph was a quality control inspector for the General Electric Company with thirty-two years of service, retiring in 1984. He was a member of St. Paul the Apostle Church, the VFW Post 1895 in Rotterdam, and the Knights of Columbus in Sarasota, FL. Joe was a dedicated family man, who loved his wives, children and grandchildren. He enjoyed extensive traveling, dancing, cooking, playing poker, and the New York Yankees.
He was predeceased by his wives, Santa Lombardo D'Agostino, and Helen Tirella D'Agostino.
Joseph is survived by his daughter, Santa M. (Walter) Bates of Sarasota, FL, and sons Michael (Janis) D'Agostino of Hernando, FL, and Joseph J. (Sharon) D'Agostino Jr., of Ballston Lake, grandchildren, Timothy Pennock, Brian (Angela) Pennock, David (Keiko) D'Agostino, Kelly (David) Giminiani, Ashley (John) Armitage, and Reed D'Agostino, nine great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, March 7, at 10:15 a.m. from the DeLegge Funeral Home, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial, 11:00 a.m. at St. Paul the Apostle Church. Interment will be in St. John the Baptist Cemetery.
Calling hours will be held on Tuesday, from 5-7 p.m. at the DeLegge Funeral Home.
