Joan A. Hungerschafer of Rotterdam Jct., NY passed away on November 14, 2025. Born in Schenectday, NY to Kunegunda and Benedict Maciag. Joan is predeceased by her husband William, brothers Chester and Edward Maciag, sisters Celia Kaszuba, Genevieve Stec and Lillian Jurcsak.
Joan is survived by her daughter Anne Marie, sons David, Jon (Laura), William, Marc (Jamie). Grandchildren Amanda, Alexis, Jacob, Ryan, Sandra, Great Grandchildren Aiden, Dominick, Ava, Maximus, Maverick, Madison, Mikayla, Drake and Great Great Grandson Theodore. Survivors also include several nieces and nephews. Her dear friends Ann Krall, Kathy Shannon and MaryAnn Statuto.
Joan was a graduate of St. Joseph’s Academy Schenectady, NY. Joan began her employment with Scotia Naval Depot, General Electric, Northeast Parent & Child Society, NYS Division of Parole retiring from Schenectady County Dept. of Social Services.
Joan was proud of her polish heritage, she enjoyed crocheting, tending her garden and most of all spending time with her grandchildren.
Calling hours will be held on Thursday, November 20, from 9:00 a.m. - 10:30 a.m. at the DeLegge Funeral Home, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial 11:00 a.m. at the Church of St. Adalbert. Interment will be in St. Adalbert Cemetery.
