JoAnn Margaret Zannitto Karis

JoAnn Margaret Zannitto Karis, 75 of Rotterdam passed away on Thursday, December 29, 2022 at Halifax Health Hospice, Port Orange, Florida after her prolonged battle with dementia.  JoAnn was born in Amsterdam, NY to the late Joseph and Vera (Eckert) Zannitto.  She was a graduate of Fonda Fultonville School and St. Mary’s Hospital School of Nursing, 1968.  JoAnn enjoyed traveling after high school to Europe and then later with her husband Ted to Florida and many other places.  She worked at Amsterdam Memorial for over 30 years as an RN in many different departments as a nurse and then an administrator for the hospital. She then retired from Sunnyview Rehabilitation Hospital.  She enjoyed Proctors, shopping, ice skating shows, collecting jewelry, traveling, music, dancing, cooking – which she was very good at and was an avid dog and animal lover. She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, family and friends.

JoAnn was predeceased by her husband, Theodore Karis, her mother and father.  She is survived by her sister Cherryl Zannitto of Amsterdam, two sons Scott (Heather) Dillenbeck of Rotterdam, John Dillenbeck, of Daytona Beach, Florida, granddaughters, Taylor and Kasey Dillenbeck of Rotterdam, Leah and Aubree Dillenbeck of Daytona Beach, Florida.

Calling hours will be held on Tuesday, January 10, 2023, from 10 a.m.-1p.m. at the DeLegge Funeral Home, with a service to begin at 1 p.m.  Interment will follow in Memory Gardens Cemetery, Albany.
