Jennie "Jenna" K. Kohler

Jennie K. Kohler (Jenna), 94, passed away peacefully in her sleep on Friday, April 21, 2023 at Schenectady Center.

Jenna was born on May 3, 1928 to the late Domenico and Frances (Mauro) Sorgiovanni who, after immigrating from Calabria, Italy settled on Weaver Street in Schenectady. 

Jenna will be greatly missed by her son John (Nadine), daughter Deborah, brother-in-law Frank Kohler, cousins, nieces, nephews and friends. She was predeceased by her husband John, the love of her life, in 2003, almost two years after celebrating their 50th Wedding Anniversary. She was also predeceased by her two brothers, Nickolas and Frank Sorgiovanni and two sisters, Mary Otto and Dolores Pikor.

Jenna shared her love for cooking with EVERYONE. Her love of singing began when she started harmonizing with her two sisters, later leading to her singing with Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church choir and The Choraliers of Schenectady and Clifton Park. She was a member of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church and Our Lady of Mount Carmel Women's Society.

She kept busy working from the age of 13, each new job being more profitable than the last. Once married she became a stay at home wife and later a stay at home mom. Being at home with her family was so important to her and, little did she know, it was far more important to her family who couldn’t love her more.

Calling hours will be held on Wednesday, April 26, 2023 from 5-7 p.m. at the DeLegge Funeral Home.  

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, April 27, at 9:15 a.m. at the DeLegge Funeral Home, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial, 10:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church.  Interment will be in St. John's Cemetery. 

Memorial contributions may be made in Jennie's name to  Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, 1255 Pleasant St., Schenectady, NY 12303.
