Hanna Janicka, 66, of Schenectady, passed away on March 21, 2026, surrounded by her loving family and friends at Ellis Hospital.
Born in April 1959 in Poland to Aleksander Bauer and Jadwiga Jakubowska, Hanna immigrated to the United States in 1997. She devoted over 20 years of her life working for New York State as a Direct Support Professional, where she compassionately cared for individuals with disabilities.
Hanna met her late husband, Leszek Janicki, in Poland, and together they went on and had two sons, Michał Janicki and Cezary Janicki.
In her retirement, Hanna cherished time spent with her grandchildren and especially enjoyed family trips to the beach. She will be remembered for her selflessness, warmth, and deep love for her family.
Hanna was predeceased by Thaddeus J. Moskal. She is survived by her mother, Jadwiga Jakubowska-Moskal; her sister, Zofia Piwniak (Andrzei); her sons, Michał and Cezary Janicki (Julie); her niece, Katarzyna Piwniak; and her beloved grandchildren, Natalia, Michał, Czarek, and Cillian Janicki.
Calling hours will be held on Friday, March 27, 2026 from 5-7 p.m. at DeLegge Funeral Home, Schenectady. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, March 28, at 10:15 a.m. from the DeLegge Funeral Home followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at the Church of St. Adalbert at 11:00 a.m. Interment will be in St. Adalbert Cemetery, Rotterdam.
In honor of Hanna, the family kindly requests that donations be made to the Church of St. Adalbert, 550 Lansing St. Schenectady, NY 12303 a place of worship that was close to her heart.
