On Wednesday, December 16, 2020, Gerald (Jerry) Williams, loving husband and father of two children, passed away at the age of 77.
Jerry was born January 19, 1943 in Schenectady, NY to Anthony and Helen (Olszewski) Williams. He graduated from Scotia-Glenville High School in 1961 and furthered his education at Hudson Valley Community College. Upon graduating, Jerry joined his father in the plumbing business (est. 1947). Jerry took over the business in 1978 and retired in 2006.
In June 1967, he married Barbara (Rozen) Williams. They raised two children Jeffery Williams, and Debra Williams (Fialkoff).
Jerry (aka Pops/Straight Arrow Jer) loved to laugh and was known to tell jokes and stories. You never knew if he was telling the truth until you read the “twinkle” in his eye. His zest for life fostered a need to travel often. Jerry and his wife, Barbara, traveled frequently to visit close friends/family and try their luck in Atlantic City and Las Vegas often. Aruba was an annual destination to leave the cold NY winters. Jerry was an active member of St. Josephs’s Athletic Club and the Rotterdam Elks Club. He liked to bowl, play golf, and spend time with loved ones.
He is survived by his wife Barbara, his two children Jeff (Lise) Williams and Debbie Fialkoff. He was known as Pops to his five grandchildren Alyssa and Matthew Williams, and Jacob, Colby, and Kendall Fialkoff. He is also survived by his sister Jeanne (late Francis) Baidy, his sister and brother-in-law Nancy and Walter Englert along with four nieces and one nephew.
Family and friends can share memories and condolences Wednesday, December 23, 2020, from 6-8 pm at the Glenville Funeral Home at 9 Glenridge Road, Glenville. Those who wish to honor Jerry may make a contribution to the Red Cross in his name at http://www.redcross.org.
