Clifford Johnson, of Schenectady, NY peacefully passed away at the age of 85, surrounded by close family on August 29, 2023, in Albany, NY. He was born in Kingston, NY to Louis and Ola Mae Johnson on February 26, 1938. He graduated from Mont Pleasant High School in 1955.
In his earlier years, he was a Golden Glove boxing champion.
Clifford served in the US Navy on the USS Ingraham and the Wisconsin from 1955 to 1959.
He was a master welder and worked many years as a foreman with Consolidated Diesel.
He was a multi talented artist and known for specializing in reverse oil painting on glass. His works were on display at Hamilton Hill Art Center.
He was a life-long member of the Masonic Order.
Clifford was predeceased by his brothers, Nathaniel Johnson, Lawrence Johnson and Harold Johhson. Sisters, Mary DeCrumpe, Helen Campbell and Ruth Hill.
Clifford is survived by his children, Michelle Johnson, Lareena Solomon, Clifford Johnson Jr., sister, Margaret Gray, grandchildren, Lane' P. Solomon, Kali M Bergeron, Mekkah M Bergeron, Santino M Graviano, Willilam Rivas, Wadasia Degroate, Jamyra McCarty and host of other grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nephews, nieces, family and friends.
A calling hour will precede the services from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. on Tuesday, September 5, 2023 at the DeLegge Funeral Home in Schenectady. Interment will follow in Parkview Cemetery with Military Honors.
