Clara M. Cwalinski, 99, of Schenectady, passed away peacefully on May 5, 2021.
She was born in Shenandoah, PA on January 11, 1922 to the late Felix and Helen (Poltrack) Sobocinski. Clara graduated from Mont Pleasant High School and worked for General Electric. During World War II, Clara built electronic components at GE for the TAJ-19 transmitter, RGD CG-46132 receiver and BC-375-E transmitter all of which were designed for voice operation and
used by the Signal Corps, the Army Air Forces and the Navy. These radios allowed unity of action among the diverse and fast moving elements of the fighting forces. Clara’s contribution to the war effort may have been small, but it helped keep people and nations around the world free.
She was a member of the Church of St Adalbert and was predeceased by her husband, Leonard. They had 50 years of marriage before his passing in November 2013. Loving mother of Jeffrey (Kathy) Cwalinski of Summerfield, Florida and Barbara (Paul) Rudzinski of Niskayuna. Sister of the late Jessie Sobocinski.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial on Wednesday, May 12, at 10 a.m. at the Church of St. Adalbert. Interment will follow in St. Adalbert Cemetery in Rotterdam, NY. There will be no calling hours.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Clara’s memory to the Church of St. Adalbert Restoration Fund,
550 Lansing Street, Schenectady, NY 12303.
