Arthur R. (Poppy) Palmer, 83, returned to the Lord on January 1, 2021. Born in Schenectady, NY, he was the son of the late Arthur and Mary “Mastrianni” Palmer. He graduated from Mont Pleasant High School and enlisted in the US Army National Guard. He was later employed at the Schenectady County Highway Department where he retired in 1994.
He was married for 60 years to his high school sweetheart, Elaine “Maynard” Palmer. They had three children, Lisa (Joe Sr.) Struffolino, Lonnie Minogue and Robert (Sharon) Palmer. He was blessed with eight grandchildren, Joe Jr, Melissa, Chris and Dylan Struffolino, Breanne and Michael Sangiorgi, Megan and Nikki Palmer as well as seven great grandchildren, Audrina, Ella, Michael, Milana, Dominic, Nicholas and LJ.
He was an avid outdoorsman and loved watching the horse and dog races. He loved animals, especially his own pets. He took great enjoyment in cooking meals for his family and friends. He loved to joke around and stir the pot with anyone he could bait into playing along. Most of all, he loved being a husband, father, and grandfather.
He will greatly be missed by all who knew and loved him. Due to COVID-19, there will be no services at this time. A celebration of Arthur’s life will be held at a future date.
