Alfreda Balga (nee Dwojakowski) passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her loving family on July 20, 2022 at the age of 95. Alfreda was born in Amsterdam N.Y. on August 9, 1926. She was the daughter of the late Wladyslaw and Antonina Dwojakowski. She graduated Mt. Pleasant high school in 1945 and worked as a supervisor for Sealy Mattress Company for 31 years.
She loved to crochet for her family and friends. Her favorite pass time was doing crossword puzzles and watching the Yankees. Alfreda loved long rides and especially the long ride to Florida with her husband, Edward, to spend time with their daughter during the winter months.
Alfreda was a faithful parishioner of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church and a member of Mount Carmel Seniors and the Ladies of Rotterdam ELK’s Auxiliary.
In addition to her parents, Alfreda was also predeceased by her loving husband Edward (2019) of 73 years. She is also predecease by her sisters Jean Sekowski and Genevieve-Genia Rubinski, brothers Water Dwojakowski, Joseph Dwojakowski, and Thomas Dowjakowski.
Alfreda is survived by her loving daughters Phyllis A. Benson (Robert) of Ballston Lake, Christine R. Wolf of Seminole, Florida and her loving son, Edward A. Balga (Linda) of Rotterdam as well as her sister Bernadine Mastroiani of Sch’dy. She is also survived by 10 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren, 6 great great grandchildren and loving nieces and nephews.
Calling hours will be held on Monday, August 8, 2022, from 3-5 p.m. at the DeLegge Funeral Home. Interment will be private in Saratoga National Cemetery.
