Robert Delisa Obituary

Robert John Delisa passed away suddenly on August 23, 2018 while vacationing in Michigan.  He was born September 1,1942 in Schenectady NY. He was a youth member of the Mont Pleasant Reformed Church, became an Eagle Scout under the guidance of Scoutmaster, Andy Kozubal and was a 1960 graduate of Mont Pleasant High School.

He graduated from Michigan State University in 1964 and took advanced courses at the University of Arizona.  He served as USAF Missile Crew Commander 1966-1971, retired as Assistant Claim Manager from Aetna Life and Casualty (MI, CT, MA) and ended his career as Director of Claim Operations, MA Inter-Local Insurance Association (Hastings-Tapley), Cambridge, MA.

He belonged to the MSU Alumni Association, Green Harbor Tuna Club and was a long time friend of First Parish Church, Duxbury, MA where he assisted local needy families and enjoyed singing Christmas Carols.

Above all else, Bob treasured his family and friends. He maintained contact with several “golden” friends, those of more than 50 years, despite their being scattered throughout the USA.  Bob also enjoyed returning to Schenectady for the high school class of 1960 events.

Bob loved water sports and he especially enjoyed sharing his love for the water with others:  He delighted in teaching great niece and nephews JayLyn, Liam, Joey, Matt and Guivanni to swim. Bob looked forward to playing with family and friends in warm pool water each summer while in Michigan.

He was an honorable and patriotic man who was a mentor to several.  His conversations and contagious laugh will be missed by all who knew and loved him!

He was the son of the late Hattie (Glinski) and John Delisa.  He leaves behind his wife of 53 years, Sally, Marshfield, MA;  brother Richard (Sandy) Delisa of Amsterdam, NY; aunt Connie DeLisa, Bath,  NY;  sisters-in-law Marilyn (Ronald) Lovell, Carol (Joseph) Tinervia; nieces and nephews  Brian Delisa, Jeffrey (Amanda) Delisa, Daniel (Deb) Lovell, Andrew (Jodi) Lovell, Eric (Crystal) Lovell, James (Kathryn) Tinervia,  Marjorie (William) Renner, John (Melissa) Tinervia; first cousins Kenneth (Susan) Grzybowski, Michael Grzybowski,  Sharon (Dennis) Veliquette, Deborah Gordon, Kathy (Steve) Capucini, Gary Glinski, Jeanie Ellis, Susan DeLisa, Rebecca DeLisa, Lauren (Peter) DeLisa, Jane (Jamie) DeLisa, William (Annie Henzel), Philip (Alice) Henzel, Beverly Infantino; great nieces and nephews:  Corey and Kennedy Delisa,  JayLyn, Hunter, Abby, Guivanni, and Tony Tinervia ; Liam, Joey and Matt Renner; Ava, Mia, Isaiah, Preston and Trinity Lovell.
