Joseph M Jasniewski, 97, of Scotia, NY, passed away peacefully Tuesday, January 1, 2019 at Glendale Nursing Home. Born in Schenectady, he was the son of Stanley and Celia Jasniewski. He was a Mont Pleasant High School graduate of 1939. He served in the US Navy during WWII from 1942 to 1946 as a lieutenant flight instructor and enjoyed flying private aircraft. He graduated from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in 1951 with a BSME and was subsequently employed at General Electric for 30 years, honored as a member of the Quarter Century Club and a member of the Edison club, the Apprentice Alumni Association and a former communicant of St. Mary's Church. He retired in 1981, spending his well-earned leisure time travelling the US, boating, skiing, golfing and shooting pool. He had a genuine passion for life and living, taking great pleasure in knowing the many people, friends and life challenges presented to him over the years.
In addition to his parents and siblings, he was predeceased by his former wife C. Jane Jasniewski.
Joseph is survived by his loving wife of 35 years, Esther Jasniewski, cherished son, Joseph J Jasniewski, his much loved grandson, Thomas Jasniewski, step-daughter, Barbara (Stephen) Tata, step-grandchildren, Nicholas Tata and the late Melissa Tata, several nieces and nephews, and many friends who meant so much to him over the years.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, January 9, 2019 at 10:45 a.m. from the DeLegge Funeral Home, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial 11:30 at the Church of St. Adalbert. Interment will be in Most Holy Redeemer Cemetery.
Calling hours will be held on Tuesday, from 5-7 p.m. at the DeLegge Funeral Home
